God Will Restore What You Lost: Trusting in His Promises
There are moments in life when it feels as if loss comes one after another—a relentless tide that leaves us wondering, "Lord, when will I catch a break? I can't win; I keep losing." In those dark hours when we cannot see a way out, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed by despair. Yet, amidst the storm, God is ever-present, working behind the scenes to restore what we have lost and to guide us through the struggle.
I remember back in 2013, a year after I had bought my house. Life had taken an unexpected turn, and despite working hard and earning a decent income, I could barely afford the simplest necessities like groceries. The weight of the struggle was almost too much to bear—I wanted to throw in the towel. At that time, my relationship with God was not as strong as it could have been. I wasn’t seeking comfort in scripture or turning to prayer. But even in my moments of neglect, God had a plan for me, a plan far greater than I could have ever imagined.
Looking back, I see that those trying times were not a sign of His absence but rather a reminder to trust in His unwavering promises. God is a man who cannot tell a lie. When we are unable to see the outcome or believe that there is a way out, we must anchor ourselves in the truth that He will always provide a path to restoration. Our Papa assures us, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” This promise is a foundation upon which we can build an unshakable faith, even when we can only trust in what we cannot see.
As Hebrews 11:1 reminds us:
"Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen."
Let us choose to place our trust in God, believing that He is always working for our good, even when people around us have disappointed or let us down. Ask yourself—who has never left you? It is in these moments of reflection that we find the courage to continue, knowing that our faith is not misplaced when it rests in the one who is always faithful.
Closing prayer:
Heavenly Father,
In the midst of our struggles and losses, we come before You with humble hearts. We thank You for Your promise to restore what has been lost and for the unwavering assurance that You will never leave us nor forsake us. Help us to trust in Your perfect plans, even when our path seems uncertain. Renew our faith, O Lord, and remind us that our hope is secured in You. Strengthen us to endure, knowing that You are always working behind the scenes for our good. We praise You for Your mercy and for the restoration that is to come. In Your holy name, we pray. Amen.
