Moving Forward After Failure: How God uses our setbacks as setups for His glory.

How do we keep going? How do we pick ourselves up over and over again after what we would consider failure? Let’s be real—it feels like the biggest slap in the face.

There’s a deep sting that comes when you’ve given something your all—your time, energy, passion, and prayer—and then it all comes crashing down. I know that feeling all too well. I’ve experienced it more than once, and I’m certain it will happen again more than I’d like in the future.

I remember when I had to make a final decision about one of my business ventures. I loved it. The atmosphere, the people, the service I was providing to the community—it gave me joy. I was learning so much, making beautiful connections, and watching seeds grow.

But about a year and a half in, I had to face the numbers. The business wasn’t growing. It wasn’t becoming profitable. And while I know it can take up to five years to see profit in a business, I also had to face the reality of the market and the area my detox spa was located in. The stats were clear—it wasn’t going to thrive there.

So, I bit the bullet and made the hard decision to close the doors. My heart hurt. I kept thinking, I know this can work, so what am I doing wrong?

The truth? Months before making that final decision, I had already prayed about it. Deep down, I knew what I needed to do. But I didn’t want to feel like a failure—yet again.

Here’s what God showed me: He gave me that business for a season. And the longer I held on to it, the more it began to weigh on me. One area of life always impacts the others. I had to be okay knowing when to let go or when to pivot.

When we stop labeling these situations as failures and instead say:
“God said this season is over. I’ve learned, I’ve grown, I’ve connected, I’ve built skills that will serve me later,”—that’s when we shift our perspective. That’s not failure. That’s obedience and transformation.

Romans 8:28 (NIV):
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”

Everything I gained from that experience was God using it for His good and His glory. I’m sure you’ve had circumstances in your life where you can relate. And I’m here to remind you: You are never a failure in God’s eyes. Everything unfolds in His perfect timing.

Since I closed the detox spa, I focused on my jewelry business—which eventually led to the birth of Sacred Wisdom: Where Spirituality Meets Transformation. And earlier this year, God instructed me to close the jewelry store as well.

But this time? I didn’t cry. I didn’t mourn. I closed it with cheer in my heart because I heard from God, and I obeyed. That obedience led to the birth of the Prayer Box Ministry, two books, and my work as a Spiritual Life Coachall for His glory!

Ecclesiastes 3:1 (NKJV):
“To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven.”

Isaiah 43:18-19 (NIV):
“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?”

We must be willing to trust God’s timing and let go of what was so we can step into what is. Every detour, every ending, and every redirection is leading to something far greater.

Closing Prayer

Father God, thank You for being with me in every season—especially the ones I didn’t understand. Thank You for turning what felt like failure into foundation. Help me to release what no longer serves me, to hear Your voice clearly, and to walk boldly into the next chapter. Let my life, my experiences, and even my endings glorify You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
