Choosing Faith Over Fear Breaking Free from Fear-Based Thinking and Standing on God's Promises
We’ve let go of what was. We’ve embraced what’s to come. And now? We’re dropping fear.
Faith over fear. Like Nike says—Just Do It! But let me be transparent: I’ve had some of the biggest self-doubt when it comes to sharing the Word of God.
“Am I worthy?” “Really, God? You picked me?”
I’ve said it. I’ve questioned it. I’ve cried about it. I’ve tried to disqualify myself with thoughts like, “I have five children and five different fathers. Whew… do You remember when, Lord?”
And over and over again, God tells me, “SHUT UP—I chose you anyway.”
He reminds me, “You were chosen before ANY of that happened.”
Jeremiah 1:5 (NIV):
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”
I have to be the one to tune into Him and tune out the world. And to be honest, maybe I’m the only one still hung up on my past. Others may think about it, but they’re not bold enough to say it out loud—so why am I holding onto it?
Why am I allowing my past to hinder what God has already approved?
So often I have to look in the mirror and say, “God said so.” And for me, that’s enough.
Now here’s the truth—our fears look different:
Some fear failing.
Some fear success.
Yes, success. That may sound strange, but it’s a real mental block that many of us deal with without even realizing it.
We think:
“What if I actually become everything He said?”
“Can I handle the responsibility?”
“What if I lose people along the way?”
But fear has no place where faith resides.
2 Timothy 1:7 (NKJV):
“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”
Isaiah 41:10 (NIV):
“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
Faith is not about having all the answers. Faith is about trusting the One who does. And when He says go—you GO.
Let’s stop letting fear hold us hostage. God has given us everything we need to walk boldly in purpose.
He is the One who equips. He is the One who qualifies.
And when you doubt yourself?
Look in the mirror and say:
“God said so.”
And let that be more than enough.
Closing Prayer
Father God, thank You for choosing me, even when I tried to disqualify myself. Thank You for reminding me that faith is greater than fear. Help me to silence the voices of doubt and stand boldly on Your promises. Remind me daily that You called me, equipped me, and walk with me. I choose faith over fear—today and always. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
