Finding God in the Loneliest Moments
There were times I sat in my house alone, afraid—not just of the silence, but of life itself. How do you keep going when your child is no longer with you? What is life supposed to look like after that? My mind raced with endless questions… What did I do wrong? Why me, Lord?
I had no answers. No one to turn to. Nothing but God.
In my weakest moments, I wanted to stay in bed, to wrap myself in self-pity. I wanted to drown in my grief, but God wouldn’t allow it. Even when I didn’t want to hear it, He kept reminding me—my son was never just mine. He was always His.
God whispered to my heart:
"He lived the life he was meant to live. And now, he is home."
Life is a round-trip ticket—one day, we are all called to return. That’s when my perspective began to shift. Instead of seeing my son’s death as an end, I saw it as his birth into eternity. His true Homecoming to God.
The Comfort of His Word
Isaiah 43:2-4 became my anchor:
"When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you.
When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned,
Nor shall the flame scorch you.
For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior...
Since you were precious in My sight, You have been honored, and I have loved you."
Even now, this scripture brings both joy and tears. It reminds me that in my darkest times, God never left me. He showed up exactly how I needed to see, hear, and feel Him. His presence has always been there—I just needed to tune in.
If you are grieving, lost, or simply searching for God in the middle of your pain, know this: He is already with you. You don’t have to have all the answers. You just have to lean into His love, His promises, and His presence.
I encourage you today—read the full chapter of Isaiah 43. Let it speak to you, let it remind you that God’s love for you is unwavering. He will walk with you through the fire, through the waters, through the pain—and you will come out on the other side with Him.
Closing Prayer
Heavenly Father,
In the moments when we feel alone, remind us that You are ever-present. When the weight of grief and pain feels unbearable, lift us in Your strength and cover us in Your peace. Thank You for holding us even when we are too weak to stand.
Lord, we surrender our sorrows to You. Help us to trust in Your perfect plan, to see beyond the pain, and to rest in the assurance that our loved ones are safe in Your arms. Comfort those who are grieving, remind them of Your love, and fill their hearts with hope and healing.
Thank You for being a Father who never leaves us, a God who walks with us, and a Savior who restores us. We place our trust in You today and always.
In Jesus' name, Amen.
