When You Feel Like Giving Up: Finding Strength to Keep Going
Giving up may seem like the easy way out, but in reality, it only prolongs the journey. We don’t escape the lessons—we simply repeat them until we allow ourselves to go through the process.
Trust me, I know. I’ve had moments where I was exhausted, frustrated, and convinced that something was too hard or just not for me. But the truth wasn’t that the task was impossible—it was that I was trying to do it my way instead of following the path God had already mapped out for me.
I’ve fumbled through school, business ideas, corporate positions—so many things I once pursued, only to let go. But when I looked deeper, I realized that I wasn’t just giving up on those things—I was giving up on myself.
Anytime we give up on something we once wanted, the root of it often lies in self-doubt. We start believing we’re not good enough, not capable, or not deserving. But that’s not what God says about us.
"Be strong, therefore, and do not let your hands be weak, for your work shall be rewarded." — 2 Chronicles 15:7
Take a moment to reflect on how far you’ve already come. Would you really want to go back?
Just this morning, I reminded my daughter of her journey. She often feels like her healing process is taking too long, but I see the full picture—how far she has come. I told her:
"I remember when you couldn’t open your eyes, when you couldn’t breathe on your own, or eat solid food. You couldn’t speak, but look at you now. You’ve come so far."
And that’s exactly what Papa does for us. If we slow down and listen, He will remind us of our progress, of every step forward.
"And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up." — Galatians 6:9
DON’T GIVE UP. Your breakthrough is on the other side of this battle. This is the time to lean into God’s strength, use the support system He’s given you, and stand firm in faith.
Pray. Reflect. Keep pressing forward. And when you feel weak, simply say:
"Father, I need You. I can’t do this without You. Give me the strength to stay the course."
He hears you. He will help you. And He will carry you through.
Closing Prayer
Heavenly Father,
I come before You today on behalf of my brothers and sisters who feel weary and discouraged. Lord, You see their struggles, their silent battles, and the moments when they want to give up. I ask that You remind them of Your promises—of Your strength, Your peace, and Your unfailing love. Fill them with renewed hope, Father. Strengthen their hearts and steady their steps. When they feel weak, be their strength. When they feel lost, be their guide. When they feel alone, remind them that You are always near.
Lord, help them to trust You in the process, to release fear and self-doubt, and to walk boldly in the purpose You have set before them. May they remember that nothing is wasted in Your hands, and that every struggle will be used for Your glory. Let them press forward in faith, knowing that their breakthrough is coming. In Jesus’ name, I pray.
Amen.
