Broken but Not Defeated – Finding Healing After Deep Wounds

The deepest wounds often come from the people closest to us. Why? Because we never expect them to be the ones to hurt us.

Betrayal, disappointment, and heartbreak cut deep—especially when they come from family, close friends, or loved ones.

I can remember a time when I went years without speaking to some of my family members because of unimaginable betrayals. My heart was shattered, and I could not understand how someone I grew up with—someone who shared the same home, the same mother—could act in such a way.

The Trap of Expectations

Where I went wrong was expecting them to be like me—to love like I love, to act as I would act.

But here’s the reality:
We are all different.

Yes, we may have been raised the same, but we each have our own experiences, choices, and heart conditions. And sometimes, those closest to us hurt us the most.

You Are Pressed but Not Crushed

The pain of betrayal hurts to the core, but God reminds us in 2 Corinthians 4:8-9:

“We are hard pressed on every side, yet not crushed;
we are perplexed, but not in despair;
persecuted, but not forsaken;
struck down, but not destroyed.”

What does this mean?
🌿 The pain will not last forever.
🌿 The hurt will not destroy you.
🌿 With God, you will heal and rise again.

Forgiveness Brings Freedom

The enemy wants us to stay broken, bitter, and bound. But God calls us to forgive—not just for them, but for us.

Why? Because when we forgive, we release the pain and make room for God’s healing.

We forgive because God forgives us. Imagine if Papa held all of our mistakes and wrongs against us—where would we be? Broken, shattered, and miserable.

But thank God for His mercy and grace! 🙌🏾

Healing is Your Portion

If you are struggling with deep wounds today, know that you are not alone. You are not forgotten. And you are not defeated.

Let God’s love heal you.
Let forgiveness free you.
Let faith restore you.

Closing Prayer

Father God,

Thank You for being my healer. Lord, You see my heart, my pain, and my wounds. I surrender my hurt, my disappointments, and my brokenness to You. Help me to forgive as You forgive, and teach me to love even when it’s hard.

I refuse to stay bitter or broken—I choose healing and freedom in You. Thank You for restoring my heart and renewing my spirit.

In Jesus' name, Amen.
