Carried by Grace: How God Sustains Us Even When We Don't Feel Strong

Do you know how often God showers us with grace? It’s a grace that meets us in our weakest moments, our failures, and even when we feel strong—because His grace is constant and unending. I often reflect on the times when my own frailty overwhelmed me. In those moments when I was weak in the flesh or when my heart stumbled in anger and impatience, it was God’s grace that lifted me up. Imagine trying to make it through a day, or even a week, without that sustaining love. It’s a humbling reminder that favor with God is, indeed, grace in action.

Earlier this week, I shared personal experiences of how my faith in God brought unexpected favor into my life. That favor is nothing other than His grace—evident in every challenge, every decision, and every boundary we set for our well-being. When we find ourselves in difficult situations, not knowing how we’re going to get through the next moment, we can rest in the knowledge that God is showing favor on us. Whether it’s summoning the strength to make decisions, being the backbone for a struggling family, or even standing firm in our personal convictions, His grace is there to empower us.

We see this truth beautifully expressed in Psalm 73:26 (ESV):

"My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. (The Lord is my portion!)"

This scripture is a powerful reminder that even when our physical strength fades or our emotions falter, God remains our unyielding source of strength and hope. His grace is not something we earn; it is a gift given to us every single day—a constant stream of divine favor that sustains us through life's most challenging moments.

When we stumble or fall, it’s not a sign of defeat, but an opportunity to experience His compassion and guidance. In our moments of weakness, God shows up as our ever-present help, ensuring that even in our failures, we are not abandoned. His grace equips us to rebuild, to make decisions with renewed energy, and to continue being the pillar of strength for those we love.

Let us pause and receive His sustaining grace in our hearts, trusting that no matter how we feel today, God's strength will carry us through.

Heavenly Father,
We come before You with humble hearts, grateful for the boundless grace You pour out on us every day. In our moments of weakness, when our flesh and our hearts feel like they may fail, we rest in the promise that You are the strength of our hearts and our portion forever. Thank You for sustaining us through failures and for providing favor in every challenge we face. Help us to always lean on Your grace and to trust that Your love will carry us through every storm. Empower us to be a source of strength for our loved ones, and guide us as we make decisions in Your holy name.
