God’s Protection Over Our Children: Trusting Him Even When Things Go Wrong
When our children are young, we often say, "Whew, I can’t wait until they get older!" I’ve said it myself. But now, looking back, I sometimes wish they could have stayed in that sweet spot—somewhere between 7 and 11 years old. I know, I know, that’s impossible, but adult children are scary.
I have five young adults, and let me tell you, I have had my fair share of near heart attacks. RIP TyRee. 💔
Right now, we are in prayer against incarceration. I don’t know what the outcome will be, and as a mother, I feel helpless. But one thing I do have is God. I trust Him, and I will accept His outcome.
That doesn’t mean I stop praying. This is when I pray even harder—not just for my child, but for the court officials who will make decisions that affect his life. They don’t know him. They don’t know his full story. They only see one mistake.
But I know who does know the full story—Jesus.
So I pray.
I surrender.
And I leave it there.
His protection and His will for the child He blessed me with are what matter. My only role in this is to go to God for guidance and trust Him fully.
Learning to Let Go and Trust God
As parents, we often think surrendering our children to God is hard. But the more I do it, the more I realize—it’s actually easy. Because it’s what we are supposed to do.
Like J Moss says in his song: "Don’t pray and worry."
God’s Word reminds us:
"And those who know Your name put their trust in You, for You, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek You." — Psalm 9:10
God will always do what is best for our children. Our job is to accept it. We don’t know what the outcome looks like—because we’re not supposed to.
If we knew, we’d try to control it. And when we put our hands on something that belongs to God, we make it worse.
"For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope." — Jeremiah 29:11
God has a plan for our children. He loves them even more than we do.
We must trust Him fully, surrender our children into His hands, and learn to live in the peace of that surrender.
"May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope." — Romans 15:13
Closing Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the precious gift of our children. Lord, we know that You love them even more than we do, and we surrender them fully into Your hands. We pray for Your protection, Your wisdom, and Your divine intervention over their lives.
For every parent struggling with fear and worry, give us peace, Lord. Teach us to trust You even when things don’t go the way we expect. Remind us that You have a plan, and Your plan is good. We pray for strength, faith, and total surrender in every situation concerning our children.
We trust You, Lord. We release control and walk in peace, knowing that You are in control.
In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.
